Last night we got to Munich and headed straight to a beer tour where they take you to 3 typical beer halls. Probably not a good idea to drink on an empty stomach but it was sure worth it! As you can see, Munich is cold. Brrrrrr!
Today's (Saturday) adventure was an organized tour to Schloss Linderhof (one of King Ludwig's palaces). The grounds were beautiful and I snapped this peaceful shot with the lake and mountains.
The highlight of the tour was the castle Schloss Neuschwanstein - which I finally can pronounce easily. It translates to "new swan stone" and was built for King Ludwig who died mysteriously before it was completed. Each room we walked into was more opulent than the last with the best room being the Hall of Mirrors which was styled after Versailles. Ludwig had a man crush on Louis the 14th. Wonder if it was reciprocated...scandal! To get to the castle, you have to walk one mile up a steep hill. This was made infinitely better by Danielle introducing me to mulled wine. Yuuuummmm!!!
The palace which inspired Sleeping Beauty's castle.
